From April 1st-3rd, Katie (AsylumConnect Co-founder/Co-director) represented AsylumConnect at the 2016 Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U) held at the University of California, Berkeley. CGI U brings together more than 1,000 students to make a difference in CGI U's five focus areas: Education, Environment and Climate Change, Peace and Human Rights, Poverty Alleviation and Public Health.

The meeting began with an opening plenary session featuring opening remarks by Chelsea Clinton, Vice Chair of the Clinton Foundation. In her opening statement, Chelsea Clinton gave a special shoutout to AsylumConnect and Sayid's (AsylumConnect Co-founder/Co-director) 2015 Commitment to Action.

Katie also had the opportunity to participate in the CGI U Exchange on behalf of AsylumConnect (a forum for students and sponsors to showcase their organizations or Commitments to Action).
