Volunteer for AsylumConnect! 

We currently have two types of volunteer positions available:

  1. On the Ground Volunteers (Seattle & Philadelphia): Individuals who live in the cities where the AsylumConnect catalog is currently operating or next priority for scaling the catalog. *Currently, we are recruiting for volunteers living in Seattle, Washington or Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.   2. Translators: Individuals who are fluent in English and other language(s).

volunteer (Seattle) 

  • The position is unpaid at this time.

  • The time commitment is flexible and based on the schedules of our volunteers.

Our volunteers in Seattle help to spread the word about the AsylumConnect catalog among LGBTQ asylum seekers and relevant service providers in the Seattle area. In addition to assisting with local outreach, you will help us to gather valuable feedback on our Seattle catalog to ensure our catalog remains as useful as possible to local LGBTQ asylum seekers living in the Seattle area. 


VOLUNTEER (Philadelphia) 

  • The following positions are unpaid at this time.
  • Everyone living in the Philadelphia, PA area is welcome to apply!
  • The time commitment is flexible and based on the schedules of our volunteers.
  • These positions offer the opportunity to meaningful support the implementation of AsylumConnect's upcoming Philadelphia pilot (launching: February 21, 2017). 

Event Coordinators (2-4)

We're looking for 2-4 dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Event Coordinators. In this role, you will:

  • Work closely with Emma Biegacki, our Director of Catalog. 
  • Assist with event planning and operation (both in-person and virtual events).
  • Event planning and/or organizing experience is a plus (but not a requirement). 

Marketing coordinators (1-2) 

We're also searching for 1-2 avid marketers to join AsylumConnect as Marketing Coordinators.      In this role, you will: 

  • Work closely with Favio Tello, our Director of Marketing and Publicity.
  • Assist with marketing and advertising of our catalog v3.0 pilot throughout the Philadelphia area. 
  • Prior marketing and/or advertising experience is a plus (but not a requirement).

translator

  • The position is unpaid at this time.
  • Anyone who is fluent in English and other language(s) is welcome to apply to be a translator. 
  • The time commitment for translators is on an as needed basis. 
  • The following languages are in high demand: Nepali, Armenian, Chaldean, Burmese, Filipino, Serbian, Haitian Creole, and Portuguese.  

Are you fluent in a language other than English? Sign up to translate for AsylumConnect! Our translators will help to ensure that our informational resources remain as accessible as possible. Sample translation assignments include: infographics, brochures, flyers, text on our catalog site, and additional text for our website. In this role, you will be asked to translate for us on an as needed basis.
